About Us
How On Earth was started by Margie and Michael Baldwin in 2007. As founders of the Marion Institute, they were keenly interested in sustainable communities and the role that food and local farming played. The original concept was to provide the community with a CSA distribution site ( where shares of locally grown produce are picked up by shareholders on a weekly basis).
As interest grew and others wanted fresh food, more products were provided and a kitchen was added to make our own food. Today we continue to be mindful as many of our products are sourced locally and/or organically. We have grown to become a one stop shop for all of your local and sustainable grocery needs. We serve lunch Monday- Saturday 11-3 pm and offer catering as well. We have added a community kitchen for local entrepreneurs to make their products for sale in our store as well as other wholesale markets.
Whats Local Now?
After the long winter, it’s been a real pleasure lighting up the grill every night we get home. Lately dinners have been a breeze. Simply toss whole asparagus, salad turnips, radishes & scallions in a little olive oil with salt & pepper. Grill til tender. Give them a nice rough chop and toss into a simple salad with lemon juice, olive oil, then garnish with those pretty little chive blossoms. Add a glass of rose & a grilled Pain D’Avignon Baguette and I’m one happy girl!
New Cheese to Check Out! ~ Consider Bardwell Danby. Straight from VT this raw goat cheese is aged for over 6 months. Made in the style of an Italian Paive this cheese is firm, smooth and great grated over pasta, or even oven-baked asparagus!
